Here are some of his suggestions that particularly interest me: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The long awaited and highly anticipated finale to Hilary Mantel\u2019s Thomas Cromwell<em>&nbsp;<\/em>trilogy,&nbsp;<em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2019\/may\/22\/hilary-mantel-the-mirror-and-the-light-announced-for-2020\">The Mirror and the Light<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/em>(4th Estate, March) &#8211; under strict embargo!<\/li><li><strong><em>Hamnet<\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em>(Tinder Press, March) by Maggie O\u2019Farrell \u2013 &#8220;an [&#8230;] imagination of the short life of Shakespeare\u2019s son, Hamnet, and the untold story of his wife, \u201cAgnes\u201d Hathaway.&#8221;<\/li><li><strong>Apeirogon<\/strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em>(Bloomsbury, February)<em>,<\/em> by Colum McCann &#8220;&#8230;ambitious formally and thematically, taking on the Israel-Palestine conflict in a work that is both spectacularly inventive and grounded in hard, often brutal fact. It is about grief and forgiveness, about family and politics&#8230; If you can read it without sobbing, you\u2019re a monster.&#8221;<\/li><li>Sebastian Barry\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>A Thousand Moons&nbsp;<\/strong>(Faber, March)<em>.<\/em>&nbsp;&#8220;Set in the wake of the American civil war, it tells the story of Winona, a brave, bruised orphan from the Lakota tribe whose new life on a Tennessee farmstead is threatened by the past.&#8221;<\/li><li>&#8220;&#8230;the final part of Ali Smith\u2019s<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>era-defining seasonal quartet,&nbsp;<strong>Summer&nbsp;<\/strong>(Penguin, July)&#8221;<\/li><li>Kate<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>Grenville&#8217;s &nbsp;<strong>A Room Made of Leaves<\/strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em>(Text, July)<em>&nbsp;<\/em>(&#8220;..which I\u2019ve read and it\u2019s every bit as good as&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"The Secret River (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Secret_River\" target=\"_blank\">The Secret River<\/a>&#8221; says Preston &#8211; let us hope!)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A very nice start I would say.
